Happy 3rd Birthday, Taylor!

We’d like to publically wish our precious Taylor a Happy (better-late-than-never) 3rd Birthday!!! We’re not sure how she got to  be 3 years old already, but that’s what the calendar tells us. We’ll do a birthday party post later, but for now here are some pics from her first 3 years.

Big girl bed

Yesterday we made the big move of transitioning Taylor to her big girl bed.  Robyn fixed up an old head & footboard that we bought off Craig’s list, which you don’t see in the pictures because they didn’t work with the frame that we were using.  We’ll make it work by repairing the frame that came with the bed, but for now we just put the boxspring and mattress on a metal frame.

One thing we’ll say about Taylor is that when she’s ready to transition to something, she moves forward and doesn’t look back.  Robyn put her down for a nap yesterday and Taylor was so excited.  It took her a little longer than usual to fall asleep, but not long at all.  When Robyn went to check on her here’s what she found:

Robyn kindly moved her to other side of the bed and put the body pillow next to her so she wouldn’t fall off.  She took a pretty good nap and was so proud of herself to wake up and walk into the den all by herself.

She did good going to bed at night too.  Robyn put her down around 7:30 and about 30 minutes later I heard her opening her door so I went to check on her.  I opened the door to find her sitting up in her bed with a big ol’ grin on her face–she’s just so excited to be in her big girl bed because we’ve been talking about it for weeks.  I was able to get her to lay back down and she did fine for the rest of the night and got up by herself in the morning and even went potty all by herself!  Wow.

We took another trip to the farmer’s market on Saturday morning.  It was pretty hot but we had fun anyway.  Taylor was especially excited that Poppy and T met us downtown.  Then she got even more excited when Poppy bought a cupcake for her (in the pictures, the cupcake is in the ice cream cone).

If you can’t tell by the pictures, I’ve been into black and white photography lately.

4th of July weekend

We had a lot of fun this 4th of July weekend and I was very glad to have an extra day off work.  On Friday night we stayed home and rented a movie.  Saturday morning we woke up and had breakfast then went to Robyn’s dad’s house for a second breakfast with some of the Grand Bay family.  After that we ran around town for a little while then came home.  On Sunday we went to church in the morning and then went to a pool party at night.  On Monday Robyn and Taylor mostly played inside while I got some work done outside.  Then Monday night I grilled some fat steaks for dinner.  Here are some pictures from the weekend.

This is Taylor’s new favorite thing to do.  She calls it her slide.

We had a little outdoor photoshoot and thanks to her awkward, forced smile, this is the best shot that I got.

Here’s Taylor with Aunt Beth and Poppy from our Saturday morning breakfast

I just like this picture

Here’s Taylor before we left for the church pool party

And here’s how we finished the weekend

I realize I have been extremely neglectful when it comes to keeping you posted about my pregnancy – I’m already 26 weeks pregnant! My apologies. And yes, I know I haven’t posted any belly pics. I guess I’ve just been busy having fun with my Tay Tay. She really is a lot of fun adn I love her sooooo much…but this post isn’t supposed to be about her. 🙂

People ask me how I’m feeling a lot lately. I usually answer “Good, but I’m starting to get heartburn.” I don’t remember exactly when the heartburn started when I was pregnant with Taylor ( it was probably about this time), but I can say for sure that was the first time in my life I’d ever had it.  I should also add in that I’ve started getting tired again. I’m not even in my 3rd trimester yet and already a daily nap sounds great! I don’t take one everyday, but many days I do. I read that early tiredness in your second pregnancy can be due to any of the following: you’re not as young as you were your first pregnancy, you may not have gotten back into as good of shape as you were before your first pregnancy, and you have another child to take care of. Check, check, and check! All definitely true for me.

As for my growth…my waist is about 1/2 inch smaller and I weigh less than at this point with Taylor, but I don’t necessarily feel smaller. As for swelling, today is the first day that I thought I might be experiencing the beginning of some swelling. Hopefully it won’t be nearly as bad as it was with Taylor. But if so, I know it will all be worth it.

I wonder what Baby Caroline is going to look like. I wonder if she’ll look like Taylor or completely different. Sometimes I think she’ll be blonde haired and blue-eyed. Time will tell. We talk about Caroline a lot. Taylor loves to name the ways she’s going to help, and I really think she’s going to be a great helper. I hope. Her world will change upon Caroline’s arrival, no doubt. Right now she is the center of attention and gets all of our love. I pray that she’ll adjust well to sharing us with her little sister. I pray that I’ll adjust well to being a mother of two. I don’t love transition 🙂

Ok, I think it’s about time to go take some Tums and hit the hay. This Friday I go to the Dr. again, so I’ll let you know if there is anything to report. I might even put up a picture of my belly.
