Christmas programs

Last week Taylor sang 4 songs at school and 2 songs at church this morning.  She was very excited about it.  She can sometimes be shy so we’ve been giving her pep talks to let her know that she needs to be brave (or “brathe” as she says it) and get up on stage and do a good job.  She did great even though she was a little shaky on most of the lyrics.  But that’s ok.

For the first song of the school program they played handbells to Silent Night.

Twenty kids on stage with handbells had the potential to be a disaster, but they did a great job.  Taylor was more into playing her bell than singing.

The next song was Jingle Bells.  For this song they put bells on the kids’ wrists, which Tay Tay loved.  She did good again but sometimes had to be a little silly since we were both there along with Poppy, Gran and Grand Neil.

This morning at church the kids sang Silent Night and Lord I Lift Your Name on High.   There were hand motions to both of these songs and the kids all did great.

We were really excited because this is the first time that Taylor has been a part of something like this and after watching friend’s children do this for the past several years it was a lot of fun to have our child up there.

Taylor update

With all the news about Caroline I thought I’d give an update on Taylor.

She’s loving her role as big sister.  She loves Caroline so much.  A lot of times when Caroline is fussy or crying Taylor will go over to her and talk to her or sing to her.  And many times it works to help calm Caroline down.

Taylor is also doing really good at school.  She goes 3 days a week and would go more if she could.  On Monday and Friday mornings when she doesn’t go to school she gets upset and says that she wants to go to school so she can see her friends.  They work on 1 letter a week and are up to the letter L.  Taylor already recognizes most letters but now she gets excited to learn what sound they make and what words start with each letter.  In music class they’ve been practicing handbells for the Christmas program that will be this Thursday.

Last weekend my sister and her family came to visit.  Tay Tay was super excited to see Kayleigh, who is just 2 months older than her.  They did really good together.  It’s too bad that they don’t get to see each other more often.

Nick’s Poop Suit

That’s Taylor’s art smock in case you’re wondering…and a clothes pin on his nose.  Yeah, it was that bad.

2 Month Picture

Here she is! Our little 2 month old munchkin…don’t you just want to kiss her little face?! One of my nicknames for her is Cutie-Tiny-Face. I think it’s quite fitting.

2 Month Stats

Caroline had her 2 month check-up earlier this week and proves to be doing well and growing and developing on track. Here are her stats:

Height (Length):  22 1/2 inches (50th%)

Weight:  10 lbs. 13 oz.  (50th%)

Head Circumference:  37 1/2 (25th%)

So it looks like she’s pretty average,( though we beg to differ - to quote Mary Poppins, we think she’s practically perfect in every way) , but still has a little pea head.   She is a sweet little baby and continues to be a good sleeper. Every now and then she fights it, but for the most part she likes her sleep.  She takes after her Mama, who wishes she, too, was sleeping right now. Caroline is super smiley which is really fun for us. Last week when my Mom and step-dad were over for a visit Caroline was smiling a ton for them, which they hadn’t really seen yet – they were thrilled to say the least.  Anyway, back to the appt. Caroline got 2 shots and an oral vaccination. I almost opted to split these up because they cover 5 seperate vaccinations and that seems like a whole lot for my lil’ punkin all at once. But after talking to her Dr. about risks and pros/cons of getting them all at once vs. splitting them up, I decided to go ahead and get them all. And she has tolerated them quite well so far. I need to take an official 2 month picture, but you’ll have to wait for that. But you’re used to waiting on me for new blog posts, so that’s no new thang. No that wasn’t a typo.
