Sometimes it’s easier to post pictures, instead of trying to write paragraphs.

When I got home from the gym this afternoon I noticed the rays of light coming through the fence so I grabbed my camera.  I was able to get a couple shots before Taylor decided that she needed to be in the picture.

We’ve been pretty busy lately with a lot of different things.  Here’s a recap:

Nick turned 33 on the 3rd and we celebrated with carrot cake cupcakes that Robyn and Taylor made.

Taylor has been having a lot of fun being outside in this nice weather.

Last Thursday night we had a weekday date night which is very unusual for us.  We both like Mark Schultz and he put on a free concert at an outdoor park in Pensacola to benefit Bethany Christian Services.

The Crooms came in town on Wednesday and the kids have had a ton of fun playing together, as usual.  While the big kids were swinging,

Caroline chilled on the hammock.

On Saturday we all went to Fairhope for the annual arts & crafts festival.  It was fun but the girls made it a little tough.  Lesson learned for next year.  That night the whole crew got together for dinner at Robyn’s dad’s house.

Today Robyn and Taylor went to see the Mobile Ballet put on their rendition of Cinderella. More info and pics of that to come late.

And we finished our weekend by having a picnic of chili cheese dogs.

A Bit Behind

To say that I’m a bit behind on blogging would be quite the understatement. And I may be writing this for absolutely no reason, since I probably have no readers anymore due to my lack of posting. But I have good excuses, the main one being that my mom’s cancer has returned. We found that out a few days after I posted “what.a.day”. I would have chosen a different title had I known what the future held. So forgive me for not keeping you updated. I’ll try to play catch up and hit some of the highlights…maybe.

For now I’ll leave you with a picture from a little photo shoot I had with Caroline. It was pretty much a bust. Out of about 60 pictures I could count on one hand the number of good decent ones. That’s what I got for trying it on a whim! My friend Elizabeth called to let me know she had some Japanese Magnolias in bloom in her backyard and that she had had a photo shoot with her baby girl that turned out really well. I toyed with the idea of waiting until Nick got home to be the photographer, or doing it a different day, but the weather was perfect so I jumped on it! But first I had to feed her, then bathe her, then choose a few dresses for her to wear. Turns out I took too long and she left her smiles at home. Lesson learned. Planning is key.

Family Fun Day

It was a wonderful Saturday for the Villacampa family.  Not only was the weather beautiful and the temperature perfect, but we got the spend the whole day together as a little family.  After an early morning feeding, I laid Caroline back down to sleep and got back in bed myself. I actually got to sleep in until just before 9. I can’t tell you the last time I’ve done that and I’m pretty sure I could’ve slept a few more hours, but Taylor was begging me to get up.  Nick got a few things done out in the back yard including taking some pretty pictures of the new blossoms on the pear tree, while Caroline and I slept and Taylor watched a little t.v.  After Caroline and I got up we all went outside and enjoyed the beautiful day. Taylor played on her swingset and with the sand table, while Nick took some pictures of Caroline.  We decided to continue taking advantage of the perfect weather and went to a park for a little bit before getting lunch at a little local cafe/ice cream parlor.  I had received an e-mail from this cafe saying that it was BYOB Saturday and if you bring your own banana you’d get a discount on a banana split, and so we did just that. It made for some full bellies and fun memories.  Both the girls took naps, then we got back out for a quick trip to Target.  I am absolutely in love with some of the pictures Nick took this morning. Here are a few for you to enjoy.

It was a cold Sunday morning in Little Rock.  My phone said it was 24 degrees when I checked at church that morning.  That’s cold.  We really enjoyed their church and getting to meet some of their friends.  After lunch we spent the rest of the day back at their house.  The kids got a little (very little) rest but mostly just had fun playing together.  The cousins love each other so much and make the most of their time together.  There were some rough spots but there’s a lot more good than bad.

I’m jealous of people who get a lot of good natural light in their house and yard because we get pretty much none because of all the trees in our yard.  The trees are great but make taking pictures a challenge.  Late in the afternoon I went on a little black and white photo shoot.

Yeah, I’m pretty jealous but glad that I was able to get a few good shots.

Of course Caroline isn’t old enough to get involved in all the fun but she did get some lovin’ from Aunt Sissy.

On Monday we went to downtown Little Rock before heading out.  We’d considered trying to drive the whole way home on Monday but after lunch and playing at a park we didn’t leave until 2:30.  We stayed at the same hotel in Vicksburg and the girls did great again.  Caroline slept the entire way and Taylor was happy to watch Cinderella and a few other things.  On the way home we saw an amazing sunset and I had to pull over.

The next morning we had caught in the middle breakfast then hit the road.  The girls did great until about the last 20 minutes of the trip.  By that time they’d had enough and both kinda lost it.  But considering that we spent about 16 hours in the car and only the last 20 minutes were rough, we’re not complaining.

We had a great time seeing the Crooms and loved their house.  It was also good to get away from our normal routine for a few days.
